3. Optimized EMC qualification due to component obsolescence

In this section, we present different published approaches to managing component obsolescence to optimize EMC qualification.

3.1 Systematically perform or repeat EMC tests on equipment

Even if it does not correspond to an optimization of the EMC (re)qualification process for a piece of equipment, carrying out (in the case of multisourcing) or repeating (in the case of component obsolescence) EMC tests is the most direct approach to determining whether the introduction of a new component reference will not involve unacceptable EMC regression. This approach has a number of advantages: it's very straightforward, since all that's required is to apply standard or end-customer-specified test configurations.
