2. RFID production costs

2.1 Cost of chips (or integrated circuits)

Integrated circuits represent the main cost of an RFID inlay, which is a common situation for the vast majority of applications using integrated circuits. In 2010, an HF RFID chip could be negotiated at around €5-6 cents. In UHF, as the chips are smaller, the cost is closer to €3 cents.
