6. Conclusion

In this article, recent advances in the optical control of electronically scanned antennas, as well as architectures for optical delay synthesis and beamforming, are reviewed from the perspective of integration and miniaturization. A review of the different types of optical architectures for microwave signal processing functions, such as microwave signal filtering, mixing and spectral analysis, provides an indication of the increasing maturity of these technologies in recent years. The performance of these associated signal processing functions also shows that many stages of maturity of these technologies have been reached, in particular in the field of very wide bandwidths that are difficult to access with conventional electronic technologies, including digital ones.
