Is the digital sector on a trajectory compatible with the Paris Agreement, and the ecological transition more generally?

In terms of materials, the answer is no, because digital technology is a large-scale extractive industry and, to date, far from a circular economy. The efforts required to achieve this are extremely important. With rare exceptions, such as the Fairphone, hardware is not manufactured using materials from exemplary supply chains, nor are they easily reused, reemployable or recyclable
