3. Conclusion

The standardization effort within the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) has resulted in the new standard for header compression, ROHC , being the subject of an IETF consensus which integrates the best of the various proposals to provide a robust mechanism capable of adapting to the different characteristics of communications networks. Its main advantage is its ability to support high error rates and delays.
