5. Improving quality of experience

This section presents two major extensions which adapt TCP to the requirements of current network usage: section 5.1 introduces a mechanism whose aim is to reduce the time it takes to receive/send data (TCP Fast open option), while section 5.2 presents extensions currently being tested which contribute to increasing the resilience of TCP connections (MultiPath TCP, MPTCP). MPTCP enables full use to be made of the resources associated with the various network attachment points available.
