4. Transaction and mobile architecture components

A contactless payment transaction with a cell phone is very similar to a payment with a contactless card, with a few differences:

  • a – cell phone with its – open security element can host several payment methods, so the user will have to make a choice;

  • the personal code must be entered on the cell phone keypad and not on the EFTPOS terminal (before or during the transaction);

  • an acknowledgement of the transaction is also displayed on the mobile's screen.

Apart from these few nuances, an NFC payment transaction breaks down as follows:

  • (1) – The Eftpos terminal initiates the process by searching for a payment method on its NFC interface;
