It was the advent of MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems) that enabled the miniaturization of sensors and their integration on integrated circuit-type supports. A MEMS consists of one or more mechanical systems integrated within an electronic circuit (figure 1 ). This new design process has enabled the miniaturization and democratization of many sensors.
