4. Other encapsulation methods for BGP/MPLS IPv6 VPNs

4.1 MP-BGP signaling for other encapsulation solutions

As described above, the MP-BGP signaling method can be used to offer virtual private network services over a non-MPLS IPv4 shared core infrastructure. Theoretically, the core can be IPv4 or IPv6, with tunneling methods such as :

  • MPLS over an IPv6 core ;

  • IP-in-IP ;

  • GRE (VPNs built on GRE are described in the [H 5 610] file);
