3. Conclusion
The ability of the general public to receive broadcast HD programs is based on the development of digital broadcast network capacities since the mid-1990s, and on improvements in broadcast techniques (DVB-S2 and DVB-T2, for example), as well as MPEG video bitrate reduction tools. In addition, the distribution of HD programs via telecom networks with access via ADSL or fiber optics has considerably increased the offer, even if it is rarely delivered at the desired bitrate. As for distribution on stand-alone media, the technological leap made in the field of optical disks means that HD video films can now be supplied at very high quality.
