3. Conclusion

The main airborne radar waveforms were described, along with their respective fields of application. It has been shown that airborne radar must be able to use all these waveforms (in terms of pulse repetition frequency) to cover all airborne object detection scenarios (air/air modes), to which must also be added the waveforms for detecting and imaging objects on the ground or sea surface (air/ground and air/sea modes).

It was then shown that within the same scenario, optimized management of several waveforms can increase performance, particularly when the radar is equipped with an electronically scanned antenna.

The waveforms and management systems of this multifunctional airborne radar system are a subject of ongoing study, with the emergence and widespread use of active antenna radars.
