22. Conclusion

This article presents lidar aerosol cloud backscatter (LRAN) methods, building on the information provided in the article [E 4 310] . The lidar simulators used to develop LRAN instruments have been presented, highlighting their importance throughout a project to improve the design and correct any difficulties.

Standard LRAN signal inversion methods were then described in detail. Other inversion methods were briefly discussed. The same applies to problems of representing lidar signals with multiple scatterings.
