3. TPA ratings and limitations

3.1 Putting the problem into equation

Passive trajectography using angle measurement alone used to be called "azimetry" in France. This term has been banned as a false friend: TPA is in no way an azimuth measurement, as one might think with this concatenation of the prefix azimut and the term métrie. The English equivalent of TPA is bearing only tracking target motion analysis (BOT-TMA). It's unambiguous, but longer.
