3. Directory application

By way of summary, this paragraph lists the various aspects of building a distributed application that we have just seen, makes a few comments on the choice of an implementation language and discusses building business applications with CORBA.

For this purpose, we have chosen to present the realization of a directory management application. This is made up of CORBA objects modeling address directories of people on the Internet. These objects are managed by servers, enabling addresses to be created, destroyed and retrieved. Examples of client applications illustrate the use of these objects. Some of these clients are automatically notified of any changes in the directories they are interested in.
