2. Architecture of a business intelligence system
We generally consider a three-level architecture (figure 2 ):
information sources, corresponding to all production and site databases from which decision-making information is extracted;
the warehouse, which contains all the data extracted from these sources;
warehouses extracted from the warehouse and dedicated to different classes of decision-makers.
The three levels of this architecture are not necessarily present in business intelligence systems. For example, commercial software can be used to build warehouses directly from sources. However, in our opinion, the three-level architecture ensures the independence of the warehouse from the various manipulations...
