2.1 CORBA specification

The OMG (Object Management Group) was founded in 1989 by several IT companies. It is now a non-profit association. It proposes independent specifications and standards in the field of objects and, more specifically, distributed objects. Its website is http://www.omg.com. The OMG brings together people from major IT companies and academia.

With no ties to any manufacturer or software developer, OMG specifications are open and seek to guarantee the interoperability of distributed applications in a heterogeneous environment.
