2. Information system urbanization

Over the years, a company accumulates a wide variety of applications and databases that are more or less redundant and not clearly linked, in the course of numerous projects; these may be legacy applications, client-server applications and/or Internet applications. This phenomenon is amplified if the company has undergone mergers and acquisitions.

Integrating and simplifying applications requires an in-depth analysis of the applications involved and their interdependencies: this is the urbanization approach. This approach seeks to decipher the company's various functional areas through all existing applications and data schemas, with a view to the past, present and future, unlike architecture, which focuses on individual systems over a given period of time.
