7. Concluding remarks

From the first GPUs with unified architecture in 2007 to the GPUs of 2017, this type of processor has made the most spectacular progress, as shown in figure 7 and table 2 . While retaining its initial role for graphics display, the GPU has become an essential player in massively parallel computing. Although this article has only presented the evolution of high-end GPUs, these are also present in mobile systems, where energy performance is paramount.
