4. Java host language

A host language is a classic programming language, such as Java, C/C++ or Cobol, which accepts primitives from the database language. A language like Java, which has undergone rapid development over the last decade, not only supports the primitives of the database definition, manipulation and query language (SQL), but also enables stored processing (or stored procedures) to be invoked within the database (figure 14 ).

Currently, the integration of the programming language with the DBMS takes place according to different modalities and technologies. In the case of Java and a DBMS such as Oracle, there are several possibilities.
