2. Some features of scripting languages

2.1 Automatic memory management

Although many programming languages are now equipped with an automatic memory manager – which takes care of reclaiming and recycling unused memory –, it should be remembered that many classic languages, such as C or C++, are not. Scripting languages, in their desire to simplify the programmer's life, but also because of their ancestry, provide automatic memory management, freeing the programmer from the worries inherent in explicit memory management. Thus, in a scripting language, the creation of a string, list, array, function or object gives rise to an implicit memory allocation, which is automatically released when the memory in question can no longer be accessed from the data manipulated by the program.
