5. UPnP server and control point implementation
We're now going to look at an implementation of a UPnP server and an associated checkpoint, written in C for LibUPnP. LibUPnP is a free implementation of a portable SDK for UPnP devices. Intel developed this library in 2000; it has since been released under a BSD license, to ensure better growth and support. Originally written for GNU/Linux, it has been ported to various operating systems, including FreeBSD, Solaris and Windows. The community around this open-source project is active, guaranteeing code reliability and responsiveness in the unlikely event of an implementation flaw. This is probably the most stable and efficient UPnP stack available.
