Numerous filtering software and products are available. Various firewall manufacturers share the market, including Checkpoint, Juniper, Fortinet, Cisco, Stormshield... These firewalls generally integrate functions such as packet filters, application gateways, intrusion detection/prevention systems... The NetASQ Appliances UTM firewall has been certified in France to EAL4+ (Evaluation Assurance Level).

In recent years, with the emergence of virtualized environments, the trend has been to virtualize all firewall functions. Lower infrastructure costs and easier, on-demand firewall deployment are the main advantages.
