Let's take a moment to understand where proximity payments using NFC technology fit in.
1.1 NFC mobile frame
NFC technology –, part of the RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) family –, enables near-field communication between two devices. It uses electromagnetic induction at 13.56 MHz (figure 1 ).
NFC differs from Bluetooth or WiFi in that its operating distance is limited to a few centimetres, and its data rate (106 to 424 Kbps). It is therefore intrinsically suited to proximity electronic transactions, for example, between a card and a reader.
