3.1 Photophysical properties of molecule 2 in solution

In solution in organic solvents, molecule 2 shows an absorption spectrum with its lowest-energy band located in the visible range (figure 4 a). It corresponds to the electronic transition between the HO and BV states. The intensity of this band is characterized by a molar absorption coefficient of the order of 100,000 M –1 .L.cm –1 , which is a very high value and testifies to the permissive nature of the transition.
