  • Process principle

The process developed by Eastman uses a rhodium catalyst, in the presence of iodine and other co-catalysts.

Acetic anhydride is produced industrially by carbonylation of methyl acetate (3) :

CO+CH3COOCH3(CH3CO)2O( 3 )
