3. Biosolvent selection criteria

In order to comply with regulations, to innovate, to adapt to industrial developments or to meet societal demand for safer products at an acceptable cost, it is necessary to define selection criteria in line with the specifications of the targeted application:

  • technical criteria relate to the expected performance of the application in question and the prevention of safety risks;

  • environmental criteria enable compliance with the regulations cited in paragraph 1.3 and with tolerable levels of biodegradability and ecotoxicity;

  • health aspects are described by INRS (risk phrases, exposure doses and occupational diseases);

  • the eco-compatibility of the candidate solvent's production process must be verified, as the search for a biosolvent is generally...
