6. Conclusion

This new process combines Pickering emulsions (emulsions stabilized by colloidal particles) and sol-gel chemistry to produce stable wax@silica capsules that can break and release their contents when heated. These capsules can be stored in dispersed or powder form. The protocol is very general, since it can be applied to a wide variety of oils: alkanes, kerosenes, triglycerides. The use of the latter opens up a wide range of applications in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and the food industry, since triglycerides are the basis of many biocompatible and food oils. The simplicity of the formation process offers the advantage of direct adaptation to industrial production, since no special equipment is required. Control of the breaking temperature is achieved by the choice of oil, the release mechanism can be adapted by the composition of the aqueous phase, and release can be accelerated by an external...
