4. Schema development

Designing distillation schemes is a very difficult activity to summarize. The know-how involved is too great to define an absolutely rigorous method for arriving at a single, optimal solution. We'll take a look at a practical example of schematic design, and point out the main steps that can be taken at schematic level to reduce energy consumption.
