1.1 Properties of microfluidic systems
Microfluidics can be broadly defined as the science and technology of systems for handling small volumes of fluids (10 –18 to 10 –9 L) through channels of dimensions ranging from a few tens to a few hundreds of micrometers. It enables small quantities of product to be used, and separations and detections to be carried out with high resolution and sensitivity.
