7. Perspectives in organic synthesis

Since 1990, research into hydroformylation has expanded considerably (300 bibliographical references published in 2001).

Two main objectives emerged:

  • improved catalytic activity (selectivity, stability, speed) for certain alkenes, especially heavy alkenes;

  • synthesis of chiral aldehyde intermediates in fine chemistry.

The possibility of synthesizing new ligands at competitive cost and improving the stability of catalytic systems will make it possible to commercialize new fine chemistry processes.
