2. Polyalkylene terephthalates (PET, PTT and PBT)

2.1 Presentation

These semi-aromatic polyesters have the general formula : —O—CO—Ar—CO—O—(CH2)n

with n =2 (PET), 3 (PTT) or 4 (PBT) and Ar = C 6 H 4

They practically meet the definition of polyester for fibers, as laid down by the BISFA (Bureau International des Standards des Fibres Artifelles):
