2. Industrial production of polyester resins
When one or more diacids are reacted with a diol, a linear, thermoplastic polyester is obtained by polycondensation (§ 2.1 ). If the diacid (or one of the diacids) carries a double bond, the polyester is said to be unsaturated; it is generally referred to as polycondensate or bulk resin.
