5. Conclusion

Calculating and dimensioning a spray-drying operation calls on a wealth of knowledge and know-how in a wide variety of fields, including thermodynamics, physical chemistry, fluid mechanics, aeraulics and transfer phenomena. In this first dossier, we presented the basic principles of droplet spraying and drying. In the next dossier [J 2 257] , we'll be looking at process technology and examples of industrial applications.
