4. Tool for predicting local concentrations and temperatures in an adsorber
In order to minimize the risk of ignition incidents in activated carbon beds used to remove volatile contaminants, it is necessary to design and implement predictive tools for the quantities of VOCs adsorbed and the local temperature increases generated by this adsorption. Modeling and simulation of VOC adsorbers using a deterministic approach coupled with probabilistic models describing the parameters of gas-adsorbent interactions should enable data to be obtained and operational choices to be made, depending on plant sizing and operating conditions.
