3. Use of screening in mineral processing

Vibrating screens are frequently used in industrial-scale mineral processing for coarse screening. Advances in screening materials to avoid doweling of openings have enabled screening techniques to be extended to fine screening.

3.1 Coarse screening

Two functions are required of coarse screening applied to the treatment of shredder landfill [47] .

  • Separative function

    Screening is performed by a 1 or 2-deck screen. Double-deck screens are used in fully autogenous grinding circuits, which use rollers extracted from a first mill as grinding media for a second mill. The screen mesh size ranges from 0.5 to 2 mm for the bottom...
