4.1 Context

Energy consumption is currently one of the main concerns of manufacturers in all sectors. The major issues at stake include environmental problems, increased production costs and loss of profitability. In this context, the optimization and intensification of industrial processes, particularly extraction processes, represents a major economic challenge. In general, energy consumption linked to extraction processes can be reduced in four ways as part of an eco-extraction approach:

  • optimization of existing processes;

  • recovery of the energy released ;

  • intensification or assistance for existing processes, in particular using innovative technologies;
