1.1 Thermoptim objectives

Thermoptim is a software toolbox whose core integrates several modeling environments in a deeply interconnected way:

• a schematic editor/synoptic screen (figure 1 );

• simulation functions and interactive thermodynamic diagrams (figure 2 ).

Given that energy technologies are assemblies of interconnected components, Thermoptim combines a systems approach with a classical analytical and/or empirical approach:
