1. Name

"Colorants" is the common name for pigments and dyes. They fall into two main groups defined by DIN 55944. We distinguish between :

  • black or coloured dyes, soluble in solvents and substrates and presented in powder form;

  • white, black and color pigments insoluble in solvents and substrates. A distinction is made between mineral and organic pigments. They are also available in powder form.
