4. Conclusion

Pickering emulsions are emulsions stabilized by inorganic or organic solid particles. Compared to conventional emulsions stabilized by surfactants, they are very stable and can be obtained in a wide range of sizes up to a millimeter. The particles can not only play a technical role in stabilizing the droplets, but also have other functions such as consistency agent, active substance, and cosmetic active ingredient protection agent. The particles can therefore be multifunctional agents or smart ingredients, which simplifies formulations by reducing the number of ingredients. In addition, "green" emulsions can be easily produced using biocompatible and biodegradable particles.
