1. Powder flowability

Among the behavioral properties of powders, their flowability is by far the one of greatest interest to the industrial sector.

The flowability of a powder is its ability to flow freely, evenly and consistently in the form of individual particles.

In many industrial processes, divided solids are handled, transported or stored. The flowability of powders therefore determines the performance and smooth running of processes, and plays a role in the quality of the end product. For example, a powder with good flowability will flow unassisted. Conversely, a cohesive powder has poor flowability, and a mechanical device must be provided to facilitate its movement (agitation, vibration).
