This type of machine generally operates in continuous mode

. It enables granulation by rolling and classification by centrifugal segregation. As a result, the granules are tightly distributed and spherical in shape. The movement of the granular mass in the tray is very similar to that observed in their ancestors, and is therefore inspired by the movement in the sweepers used in the confectionery industry. It was in the cement and ceramics industries that turntable granulators enjoyed their greatest success from the 1940s onwards.
