6. Conclusions and outlook

Despite the rise of synthetic chemistry in fields such as the pharmaceutical industry, the current trend in the cosmetics market is towards natural products: colorant-free, preservative-free, fragrance-free, packaged in recyclable or biodegradable bottles. Of all these constraints, eliminating chemical preservatives is unfortunately not the easiest. Nevertheless, as we have already explained, solutions do exist.

While regulations governing the marketing of cosmetic products are constantly evolving and being tightened, the development of new products with optimized shelf life in line with consumer demand is no easy task. In fact, cosmetics manufacturers have to adapt to new legislation and consumer expectations, forcing them to constantly find new solutions.
