5. Conclusion

In the spirit of sustainable development and the circular economy, the alternative to conventional chemical products would be to use anti-scaling agents derived from the natural environment, particularly plant extracts. Unconventional physical water treatment using a wide variety of equipment is still controversial at present, with the long-term industrial results often far inferior to those obtained with chemical treatments.

To help us achieve this, we need to characterize precipitation phenomena and their inhibition in the presence of conditioning products. Numerous methods exist for designing natural solutions in the laboratory to inhibit scale formation in installations, before testing them in situ.
