2. Factual information for the engineering sciences

While bibliographic data can be seen as the preservation of an intellectual heritage, a scientific, technical and technological culture, the collection of factual data is not an end in itself. It must meet the engineer's actual or potential needs.

2.1 Engineering needs

When an engineer is looking for data, it's about :

  • of one or more properties relating to a physical phenomenon (optical, hydraulic, mechanical, etc.);

  • of a reaction (conditions and procedure) ;

  • technical and economic information;

  • industrial property information, etc.
