4.1 Thermodynamic aspects/theory

A thermoelectric generator is a device capable of exploiting the Seebeck effect to convert a temperature difference ΔT applied to its ends into a potential difference ΔV that can be recovered by the external user. The simplest form of a thermoelectric generator consists of a piece of thermoelectric material sandwiched between two electrodes, the first electrode at a so-called "hot" temperature (T C ), the second at a so-called "cold" temperature (T F < T C ).
