Modulation technique allowing positive or negative shifting of the optical carrier frequency.

DP-QPSK; Dual Polarization Quadrature Phase Shift Keying

Method for encoding digital signals on an optical carrier based on modulation in the complex phase and amplitude plane.

Mach-Zehnder interferometer

Two-wave interferometer involving two separate optical paths obtained using light splitting plates and reflection mirrors. The Mach-Zehnder modulator is the integrated optical version of this setup.
