4. Sensor size

Initially, cameras were equipped with sensors whose size was intended to closely match the standards of film or tube cameras, with a direct correlation to the sensor’s diagonal. While this is still the case today, large-format sensors have emerged and now allow for coverage of much larger areas. Standard values are presented, along with some non-standard sizes of new high-speed sensors (table 1 ).
