10. Surfaces

The 2012 Thermal Regulations include their own definitions of surface areas.

10.1 Surface area

Noted SU RT , this usable floor area as defined by RT 2012 is defined for any building or part of a building used for purposes other than housing, as the built floor area of premises subject to the Thermal Regulations, after deduction of :

  • wall surfaces, including insulation ;

  • fixed partitions as per plans ;

  • poles ;

  • stairs and stairwells ;

  • sheaths ;

  • door and window frames ;
