6. Natural and hybrid ventilation

RT 2012 provides for natural ventilation and hybrid duct ventilation systems. These systems only apply to single-family homes, semi-detached houses and multi-family dwellings. Natural ventilation is a system for ventilating a dwelling through ducts, using thermal draught and the effects of wind.

Hybrid ventilation is a natural ventilation system that can switch to mechanical mode. This mechanical assistance can compensate for any weaknesses in natural draft. In the case of hybrid ventilation, when mechanical assistance is used, operation is similar to standard operation. Fan consumption is also calculated on the basis of outdoor temperature and wind speed.
