3. Cinematic effects

3.1 Description of the phenomenon

Kinematic interaction is the difference between free-field seismic movement (ground deformation due to the passage of seismic waves in the absence of man-made structures interfering with their propagation) and the movement induced by the presence of a structure on the surface and its foundations (shallow foundations, deep foundations).

To study this effect, we need to define the horizontal depth displacement u x (t, z) resulting from ground deformation under earthquake conditions.
